What is Invisalign?

Invisalign® is an orthodontic system using clear, custom aligners made from Invisalign’s own multilayer SmartTrack® material. Invisalign is for teens, adults, or any patient looking to get straighter, more attractive smiles without undergoing metal braces. The aligners do not poke and prod your mouth, and you can remain active in sports if you wish.

There are many ways that Invisalign differs from these traditional metal braces, including the fact that Invisalign is clinically proven to straighten teeth whether the case is severe or more less noticeable. Those with conditions such as overcrowding to an overbite or gapped teeth are good candidates for Invisalign.

How it works

The aligners work by gently shifting each tooth vertically, horizontally and even by rotation as needed. You will be given a new set of aligners when each tooth reaches designated points in your mouth. Usually, that means you get a new set of aligners every week.

Eating and cleaning

With braces, you may struggle with eating. Invisalign means you can keep eating, because you take the aligners out before meals.

You wear the Invisalign for 20-22 hours a day, and easily remove them so that you can floss and brush your teeth as you normally would. A daily brush and rinse of the aligners will keep them clean and pristine.

Made with clear sturdy materials, Invisalign makes it much less obvious that you are undergoing treatment. Many patients enjoy this because they feel more confident.

Your aligners will be made from your teeth using x-rays and impressions to ensure a perfect fit—the Invisalign is then made with a state of the art digital 3D device. On average, you can expect to wear your Invisalign for 12-13 months. And yes, the results will keep you smiling for a long time.
